TERMINOLOGIES

 

WHO IS ISRAEL He said, “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed.” Genesis 32:28

"But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend Isaiah 41:8

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9

Of Benjamin he said, “May the beloved of the LORD dwell in security by Him, Who shields him all the day, And he dwells between His shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12

ISRAEL LAND "Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, because you are an obstinate people, and I might destroy you on the way.” Exodus 33:3

Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail. Exodus 9:26

When the LORD will gave compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel, and settle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. Isaiah 14:1

ISRAEL - (IZ ray el). The new name given to Jacob, which means ruling with god (Gen. 32:28). Israel had twelve sons whose descendants became the twelve tribes. The tribes were collectively known as the nation Israel. Israel later became the name of the Northern Kingdom. In the NT, Israel was a term used to refer to the true and obedient people of God.

ISRAELITE - A Hebrew, a descendant of Abraham; same as a Jew ( Rom. 11:1)

Israel Is Not Cast Away

I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. Romans 11:1

JACOB - (JAY kuhb). Name means who schemes to take the place of another (Ben. 25:26). Jacob later became Israel (see ISRAEL). Son of Isaac and Rebekah. He had a twin brother Esau whom he tricked and defrauded out of his birthright (the father’s blessing to the oldest son). He ran away to esca8pe his brother’s anger but was later reconciled to him. He married sisters, Leah and Rachel, and fathered twelve sons, the ancestors of Israel’s twelve tribes.

JEW - The term first applied to an inhabitant of Judah (2 Kings 16:6). Later it came to refer to all descendants of Abraham who were also called Israelites or Hebrews.

GENTILE - Literally, nation. The word refers to a person who is not a Jew (Rom. 9:24). Jewish Christians at first had trouble accepting Gentiles. However, they learned that Gentiles become a part of God’s family just as Jews do: by accepting Jesus Christ as savior and Lord (Gal. 3:14).

MESSIANIC JEWS - Believing remnants that welcome Yeshua (Jesus Christ) at His first coming. They remained faithful and in the olive tree. ( Rom. 11:24b) These are those Jews in Christ’s first coming who were waiting for the coming of the Kingdom of God and received Yeshua as their Messiah.

CHRISTIANS - Gentile believers of Yeshuah (Jesus Christ) being a wild olive,

(Natural Branches) were grafted in among them and you stand by your faith. (Rom. 11:17)

These are the believing Gentiles in the past and in our time that received the Messiah and became partakers of God’s Covenant promises with Israel.

Church - (Ekklesia - the called out ones) Summoned assembly;

(Spiritual Israel) congregation. Believers who join together in a certain location (Matt. 18:7; 1 Cor. 4:17). May also mean all Christians everywhere, of all ages, of all times (1 Cor. 10:32; Eph. 1:22-23), In the Bible, church is not a building. Church is the Christians who inhabit it ( Rom. 16:5). New Testament pictures of the church include the bride of Christ (Eph. 5:25-27), the people of God (1 Pet. 2:9-10), and the body of Jesus Christ (Rom. 12:5; 1 Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:16)

GRAFTED BACK IN - The Jews or Gentiles who came to acknowledge Yeshua after

or Grafted-In being broken off or unbelief.

“They also, if they don’t continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. Rom. 11:23

Standard - Is any concept, convention, technique or physical form that serves as a blame deflection gambit to individuals engaged in spending other peoples time and money.

Anything that has been written about by a respected source or endorsed by a government or corporation or just advertised heavily qualifies.

Flag - A piece of cloth flown from a pole or mast, usually intended for signaling or identification.

Banner - Is a flag or other piece of cloth bearing a symbol, logo, slogan, or other message.
